September 17, 2010 § Leave a comment
In less that a year two friends and fellow murids have died and were buried on the grounds of the Osmanlı Nakşibendi Dergahı, in Sydney Center, NY. Recently the Sidney Town Board proposed action to disinter the bodies and prevent future burials.
The Sidney Town Board passed a resolution at its August meeting to begin legal proceedings against the Muslim Osmanli Naksibendi Hakkani Sufi Order on Wheat Hill Road in Sidney Center over a cemetery it has established on its land.
According to the minutes of the Aug. 12 meeting, the Sidney board voted unanimously to “an injunction prohibiting the burying of bodies on private property.”
Hans Hass, of the Muslim community, said the cemetery is legal and two bodies have been buried in it. (The Daily Star)
This is a truly upsetting circumstance, and I welcome a healthy discussion on the subject. Above is an original song that I wrote and performed for the family of Amir Celoski who passed November 2009. I recorded the song the day he was buried, Şeyh Abdul-Kerim and Amir’s family had the only copies so this is the first public release.
In addition, Yursil has documented Amir’s janaza (funeral) and I encourage you to read about the miracle that occured that day. It was truly amazing. May Allah Almighty bless Amir and Yunus and keep them, amin.
