The Zaytuna Institute formerly of Hayward, CA has developed a class of publications called the Curriculum Series. This genre is a much needed gathering, translation and exposition of the classic works of the traditional Islamic scholars. The first of this series is Shaykh Hamza Yusuf’s translation and exegisis of Imam Al-Tahawi’s al-Aqidah al-Tahawiyya (The Creed of Imam al-Tahawi). This book is truly a service to the English speaking Muslim community in particular. Shaykh Hamza, an American born in Walla Walla, WA truly understands the areas that need enrichment, with respect to the American Muslim community as a whole.
In this book you will find a foreward by Sh. Abdullah bin Bayyah, a liscense of transmission authorizing Sh. Hamza to translate and comment on Imam Tahawi’s Creed. You will also find the original Arabic accompanying the English translation of the creed, this is very nice for the Arabic student. The Appendices are chocked full of biographies about some our honored Prophet and his Companions as well as essays on important issues of our time. Sh. Hamza provides a extemsive list of references, sources and notes as we have come to expect throughout the years from our most qualified Islamic scholars.
