  • Jim says:

The founders are perfectly happy. There is a reason why the constitution explicitly forbids religious tests for office. There is reason the 1st amendment prevents the government from establishing a official religion and expressly protects the freedom of Religion. Read The Federalist Papers, the founders even saw a place for Hindus in the USA as citizens and as members of the government. I will also note that the House is still standing after Mr. Ellison’s swearing in and no swarms of Locusts have descended on to the Mall (other than the employees of certain K street firms.) God willing Mr. Ellison will do a good job representing the good people of Minneapolis and Mr. Virgil Goode will be looking for new employment two years hence.

Jim, there was a lot more controversy at the rostrum that day than religion. Look closely!
