Charles Fried: Questions on Liberty and Tyranny

January 11, 2007 § Leave a comment

Charles Fried, Professor of Law, Harvard Law School, asks an interesting question in an attempt to identify the elusive perception and truth that exists between Liberty and Tyranny when he writes,

Constant celebrated the ‘triumph of individuality over the masses that would subordinate the minority to the majority.’ But is it not even more tyrannical to let the few frustrate the goals of the many?” (C. Fried, Modern Liberty: And the Limits of Government)

Any thoughts?
