Bush; Maliki to Meet in Jordan

November 22, 2006 § 2 Comments

newspaperAhhh progress! At last some type of progress concerning the U.S. and diplomacy in the Middle-East. Apparently President George W. Bush and Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki will meet to discuss the current situation in Iraq, now that Syria agrees to restore diplomacy with Baghdad,

“The two leaders are due in Jordan on November 29 for their third meeting in six months as an under-pressure Bush seeks to usher a new strategy to rein in the bloodshed in Iraq more than three years after the fall of Saddam Hussein.” (AFP)

Some progress. It’s amusing to me that the media rarely seem to mention that Iraq is so dangerous that US and British officials can only come on surprise visits and never stay for more than a day or as in this case have to meet in Jordan because they fear for their lives.
