Ramadan Karim: Iraqi PM Urges Muslim Unity

September 25, 2006 § Leave a comment

I was recently trying to imagine what fasting during wartime is like and I was nearly brought to tears. I felt compassion for the 12 or 13 year old boy and girl who are giving their best on the first Ramadan where they were serious about fasting or even allowed to fast. I know what it was like for me and I cannot imagine what it would be like with death and chaos surrounding you.

“Iraq’s Prime Minister Nouri Maliki has urged Iraqis to use the Muslim holy month of Ramadan to set aside their differences and seek national unity. Mr Maliki said Iraqis could either live side by side as brothers, or see their country turned into an arena for the settling of political accounts.” (Turkish Weekly)
