Medical Center Appeals Muslim Women

September 22, 2006 § 2 Comments

Truman Medical Centers has launched a campaign to help Muslim women patients overcome a cultural barrier to health care. Julius Karash of the Kansas City Star reports that the Truman Medical Center seeking support from the Muslim community on the project received a letter from Hamed Ghazali, Chairman of Muslim American Society Council of Schools who wrote a letter saying,

“When a situation is life-threatening, like when a mother is delivering a baby, then the need to save her life and/or her baby’s life overrides all other rules,” wrote Ghazali. “A wife should not wait for an approval from her husband to save her life or the life of her baby.” (H. Ghazali)
