The Angry Arab and Thoughts on Democracy

August 22, 2006 § 3 Comments

I seem to always find something notable on As’ad’s blog entitled, “The Angry Arab News Service”. And this time is no exception as he lays out his opinions of democracy as it applies to the Middle-East,

“I never was much of a fan of “democracy” as a solution to the problems in the Middle East, or anywhere else for that matter. but I am even less able to stomach talks of “democracy in the Middle East” these days. What does democracy mean when 25% of the elected representatives of the Palestinian people are in an Israeli jail.” (The Angry Arab News Service)

let me just say that people including the leaders, governers & presidents, are not ready for democracy yet.
We need to prepare the next generation before applying democracy & I guess Iraq is the living example for what I’m saying.

this’s my second comment,, the first one didn’t appear (it happens a lot)
I think that democracy can’t be applied right now in the Arab world, as people must be prepared first, people in general have no political aknowlagement, we should start with children then we can practice democracy after a generation.
You can see what’s happening in Iraq now,, people still ignorants & killing eachother for power.

Sis I get a lot of vandalism as comments to this blog… so I have a filter on that checks if you have ever posted a comment to this blog previously.

Unfortunatley, if the system doesn’t recognize your username it will send you to a hold que where I then must physically accept the comment. I’m sorry but it was the only option to protect this blog against spammers and vandals.

Yes this is a significant problem… it is truly a mess. The world may have been better off with Saddam in power.

It might sound funny but didn’t the Prophet (s.a.w.s.) bring Islam to a people that were in a worse situation? Their politics was completely oppressive and their religion was corrupt. Its like we are moving backwards…
