Like A Broken Record

August 17, 2006 § 7 Comments

I have been questioned over-and-over, why Muslims don’t condemn the violence by muslim terrorists. And apparently, I’m not the only one, this has been occurring all over the blogosphere where non-Muslims press Muslims to condemn terror and terrorists. The Kashmiri Nomad has been experiencing this as well and this is what he had to say about it,

“Muslims never condemn violence committed in the name of Islam. How often have you heard that sentence being said before? In my case too many times to remember. Is there any truth to such claims?” (ibn Adaam)

My friend, dont waste your time with these types of people. You can show them all the fatwas denouncing terrorism but it will never be enough. Besides why should you or any other Muslim constantly apologize for their existance, taking responsibility for the actions of others? When was the last time an American apologized the mass murder of over 150000 Iraqis? The real question is when are Americans going to come to grips with the reality that their country is the greatest exponent of terror and instability? Why dont Americans ever condemn terrorism I wonder? Hypocrites!

Muslims like Nasrallah, Ahmadinajad, Zawahiri, and Bin Laden are the ones who are making statements in the name of Islam. In short these are the people who are defining Islam to the rest of the world. I would love for someone to step forward and take the microphone and video camera away from the terrorists. Someone from within the Islamic community to step up to the plate and show the world the peaceful religion that you want it to be. Until that happens the only ones left to define Islam to the rest of civilization are the terrorists.. This is how the stereotypes are developed. It is unfortunate and inaccurate… but is also a fact of life.

“I would love for someone to step forward and take the microphone and video camera away from the terrorists. Someone from within the Islamic community to step up to the plate and show the world the peaceful religion that you want it to be.”

How can you claim to know what Muslims want? I doubt you know anything of Islam except what you have absorbed from Fox News, the Colbert Report and our beloved President G.W. Bush.

I’m a Muslim, and I will tell you what I want if you ask me. But you have not asked me, you have told me what I want for my religion! You have decided the fate of me and my constituents in your statement. Yet suggesting that stereotypes are responsible for the accusations and definitions of me and my religion among my fellow Westerners.

Once again the first line of your comment implies that you have not defined for yourself the term you have used, “terrorist”. And so I will define it for you,

    ter·ror·ist (tĕr’ər-ĭst) pronunciation
    n.

One that engages in acts or an act of terrorism.

Notice it is the act of terrorism that qualifies one as a terrorist. So it is only logical to define the act of terrorism as well.

    ter·ror·ism (tĕr’ə-rĭz’əm)
    n.

The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.

This is the definition of terrorism which is why, “Don’t Bother” would say,

“The real question is when are Americans going to come to grips with the reality that their country is the greatest exponent of terror and instability?”

Its seems my friend that you are intoxicated with American idealism, sipping on too much of the “Neo-con Sizzurp”, as Br. Rasheed Moore would say. I am an American and for the sake of my family, friends and other Americans I am urging my fellow Americans to re-evaluate our policy on foreign relations beginning with Israel. That would be the best move… if it is at all possible… to see why click here.

Thats because you want Bin Laden, Zawahiri and other extremists to be seen as the authentic voices of Islam Darrell. This makes it all the more easier to reinforce your simplistic and inaccurate views. This is why I tell my Muslim friends that they owe people like you nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Most terrorists are white european males, and using your thinking I would say Stalin, Hitler, Milosovic, Mussolini and Bush are representatives of western civilization responsible for far far more deaths and terrorism then any Muslim crackpot could hope to match. I dont see you protesting so why should others? Hypocrite!

    Saying that:
” Muslims don’t condemn the violence by muslim terrorists ”
    isn’t a fair

In Fact a lot in the arab world condemn terrorism,,, specially we were hurt by the violence & terror too,, a lot spoke out telling so,, but the problem that all the speaches are in arabic & the western media never broadcasts it
Egypt for example suffered bombing in taba, october 2004 & the latest dahab bombing in april 2006, most who killed were muslim egyptians.
Nobody supports terror & Islam got nothing to do with those who’re talking in the name of islam & claim to be muslims.

However, there’s some who support those terror actions, as they think it’s a fair result for the two standards which the western world deal with, when it comes to the arab-israeli conflict & for trying to control the muslim world by their rules.

  • What the media needs to show: Muslim Scholars condemning Terrorism…

There has been a claim from one of my commentors that Americans do not see any Muslim scholars condemning terrorism. Well here you go:
