as salamu walaikum
i had ann argument with my sister about giving and receiving salam at the time of eating. my teacher tought me in my school not to give salam if some on is having their meal. but my sister says it not correct. you can give nas receive saalam in any situation. is any one there can tell me who is correct with authority. looking forward for reply.
wa alaykum as selam. I can only tell you this: the practice in the company of my shaykh at the Shaykh Nazim Osmanli Naksibendi Dergah is to refrain from giving selams during a meal. And an even better man, among the Turks is to say afiyet olsun or enjoy your meal.
